It’s hard to believe that the school year is halfway over! We hope you enjoy this well-deserved mid-winter break to relax and reflect on all you’ve accomplished so far this year.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your daughters to attend College Night at SKA. It will take place on Tuesday evening, February 3rd, 2009 at 7 PM..
The first half of the program will be an informational meeting for Juniors and their parents with Dr. Tzipora Meier and Mrs. Susan Sachs, SKA’s College Guidance Counselor. At that time, we will discuss the college application process and implications for the senior year. We will review such things as standardized testing (SAT I, SAT II and ACT), Early Decision/Action, the actual application (individual school application and common application), co-curricular and summer activities, etc.
At 8:15, Sophomores and their parents will join us for a panel presentation by college admissions representatives from:
Stern College Touro College Queens College Barnard College New York University Cooper Union
The representatives will address specific information pertaining to the college admissions process, including: Jewish life on campus, the application essay, the transcript and standardized testing, the interview, honors and scholarship opportunities, applying early action/early decision/regular decision, etc.
Right after winter vacation, we will begin meeting individually with each Junior. We encourage you to call our office to set up parent meetings as well. You can reach Mrs. Sachs in the College Guidance office at 516-374-7195 ext. 127, or Dr. Meier at ext. 123.
We look forward to greeting you at 7 PM for a content-filled evening, and to meeting with each of you during the second half of our school year.
