Special Education Programs at DRS
The Mental Health team at DRS is a proactive, multidisciplinary team comprised of clinical psychologists, school psychologists, social workers, and learning specialists. Our team compliments DRS’ overall concern for each student’s well being, by focusing on their emotional and cognitive needs maximizing their individual potential for success. Students are observed both in and out of the classroom environment, and when necessary are guided on an individual basis. Among the services we provide are:
- Proactive assessment and intervention strategies
- Social skills development
- Workshops – communication skills, drug and alcohol education, gambling and internet safety.
- Note taking and study skills
- Time management
- Stress management
- Individual counseling and coaching
We also address the needs of students with disabilities by coordinating remedial services with local school districts, and implementing all necessary accommodations for Regents examinations, and advanced standardized tests, including the PSAT, SAT, and AP.
Our services are both private and confidential. Our goal is to maximize each student’s self esteem and his success in future educational pursuits. Finally, our accomplishment is measured by the ultimate outcome, namely his becoming a productive member of the Orthodox Jewish community.
