COLLEGE & ISRAEL GUIDANCE
Individualized, student-centered advisement is available to all students through our College and Israel Guidance Departments. Mrs. Katz, Director of College Guidance, meets regularly with juniors and seniors as they work their way through the College Application Process; parents are invited to join us for one of several College Chats offered during sophomore year and again for a more in-depth Junior Conference during 11th grade. Special programs such as a College Panel and Financial Aid Presentation will be offered throughout the school year, as well as informational meetings on topics such as course selection, electives, co-curricular activities, college prep, and more. Students and staff at SKA use Naviance, a web-based college planning software program. It integrates with most colleges and allows for quick and responsive submission of transcripts, recommendations and data analysis. Students and parents each receive their own account and will be asked to fill out questionnaires and other information from time to time.
Mrs. Ralbag, our Director of Israel Guidance, supported by Mrs. Braun, Israel Guidance Counselor, will assist our seniors in the Israel Guidance process. They work individually with each student to help choose the seminaries that are right for them. In the fall of each year, the Israel Guidance Department, in conjunction with various schools and seminaries, jointly hosts an Israel Night for seniors and their parents to attend. They also assist with setting up on-site interviews for students as the application process progresses.
Regardless of grade, Mrs. Drebin and Mrs. Kaminetsky are available to all SKA students to discuss College or Israel concerns, as well as any academic issues, on an individual basis. Students or parents can contact any of us to set up an appointment at any point throughout the school year.
